چکیده

INTRODUCTION Both sorted stone-bordered polygons and nonsorted stone circles were found on a gently sloping, 3000-m-high tableland adjacent to a glaciated valley in the Kharkhiraa Mountains. Neither the formation process nor the physical relationship between the two observed types of patterned ground is clearly understood (Kessler and Werner, 2003). Here I attempt to relate field observations to models of development and arrangement of different types of patterned ground.

Language and Variation: A Study of English and Persian Wh-questions

It was claimed by variationists that languages experience variation at all levels, which is supposed to be patterned. The present study aimed at exploring how variation occurred in English and Persian wh-questions. More specifically, it investigated whether such a variation was systematic and patterned. To this end, a modified version of the Edinburgh Map Task was used in data collection. The p...

Dissolution Rate Enhancement of Clarithromycin Using Ternary Ground Mixtures: Nanocrystal Formation

Clarithromycin (CLA), a broad-spectrum macrolide, is a poorly soluble drug with dissolution rate limited absorption. The aim of this investigation was to prepare CLA nanoparticles from a ternary ground mixture in the presence of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as co-grinding water-soluble compounds, in order to improve the drug dissolution rate. Different weight rati...

Clastic patterned ground in Lomonosov crater, Mars: examining fracture controlled formation mechanisms

The area surrounding Lomonosov crater on Mars has a high density of seemingly organised boulder patterns. These form seemingly sorted polygons and stripes within kilometre scale blockfields, patches of boulder strewn ground which are common across the Martian high latitudes. Several hypotheses have been suggested to explain the formation of clastic patterned ground on Mars. It has been proposed...

Adjustable Plasmonic Bandgap in One-Dimensional Nanograting Based on Localized and Propagating Surface Plasmons

Compared to the long history of plasmonic gratings, there are only a few studies regarding the bandgap in the propagation of plasmonic surface waves. Considering the previous studies on interpretation of plasmonic bandgap formation, we discuss this phenomenon using the effect of both surface plasmon polariton (SPP) and localized surface plasmon (LSP) for our fabricated one-dimensional metallic-...

Spatial relationships between patterned ground and ground ice detected by the Neutron Spectrometer on Mars

[1] Patterned grounds, like polygonal features, are the signature of climatic effects in periglacial regions on Earth. Identifying similar features on Mars is important for an understanding of the past Martian climate. In this study we mapped fresh patterned landforms from the systematic analysis of Mars Orbiter Camera high-resolution images. We show that most of them are distributed at latitud...
